What is Hypnotherapy and is it safe?
Hypnosis or trance describes times when we experience a shift in our conscious awareness. Trance is used during hypnotherapy and is very different from what we may see in 'stage hypnosis'.
We naturally go in and out of trance many times during the day, perhaps when walking or running or watching television. In this relaxed state, we experience changes in our conscious awareness - almost like being in a day dream. During this time the unconscious mind is more aware, becomes open to and can focus on helpful suggestions and thoughts.
Trance is a very natural and safe state and when we are in trance we are still in control and we process and decide whether information or suggestions are useful to us or not and will not accept or do anything against our will.
Hypnosis or trance is a very natural, enjoyable state, encouraged by using guided relaxation, where the mind can relax and then focus on thoughts and suggestions that might be useful. As a modern psychotherapeutic approach, the therapy I offer uses practical, structured and well-researched strategies to help people make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time.
What are EFT Tapping, NLP and Mindfulness?
EFT tapping combines elements of traditional Chinese medicine, specifically acupressure, with modern psychology. It involves gently tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on the issue at hand. This process helps to release emotional and energetic blockages. It is an amazing tool to help change our negative beliefs and behaviour patterns.
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is a set of techniques that explore the relationship between neurology (the mind and body), language and patterns of behaviour. It offers practical tools to understand and change the way we think, communicate and behave. NLP helps to reframe negative thoughts and experiences, allowing us to adopt more empowering beliefs and strategies. I use it to help clients to overcome fears, break destructive patterns, enhance motivation and create coping tools and strategies.
Mindfulness helps us to become more aware of our automatic thoughts, emotions and physical sensations associated with unwanted behaviour or beliefs. By developing mindfulness skills, we can observe these patterns without getting caught up in them. Mindfulness can increase self-awareness, reduce stress, improve emotional regulation and promote overall well-being.
