A gentle, natural way to make lasting change.
What is Hypnotherapy
– and is it safe?
Hypnosis, or trance, describes times when we experience a shift in our conscious awareness. It’s a natural state that we all move in and out of many times a day—when we’re driving on “autopilot,” absorbed in a book, or daydreaming on a walk.

In hypnotherapy, we intentionally enter this calm, focused state using guided relaxation techniques. While in trance, the conscious mind relaxes, and the unconscious mind becomes more open and receptive to helpful thoughts, images, and suggestions. It’s a little like clearing away background noise so you can really listen to what matters.
Contrary to what we may see in stage hypnosis, hypnotherapy is not about losing control. Quite the opposite: it’s a collaborative, client-led process where you remain fully aware and in control at all times. You’ll only take on what feels right and useful for you.Trance is an enjoyable and deeply restful state. Many clients describe it as a peaceful mental “reset”—a place where real clarity and change can begin.

My approach to hypnotherapy
As an integrative counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist, I use modern, evidence-based strategies to help people make meaningful changes, often in a relatively short space of time.
Each session is tailored to your unique needs. I combine hypnotherapy with tools such as EFT (tapping), NLP, breathwork and psycho-education, depending on what feels most supportive. These techniques work beautifully alongside each other to reduce anxiety, build confidence, break unhelpful patterns, and support emotional resilience.
I also integrate insights from counselling approaches, especially when working with deeper issues like self-doubt, inner conflict or trauma responses. This means we can work both with symptom relief and the root causes—gently, safely, and at your pace.

What can hypnotherapy help with?
Hypnotherapy is a versatile and effective approach for a wide range of emotional and behavioural challenges, including:
Anxiety, panic, and overwhelm
Sleep difficulties and insomnia
Confidence and self-esteem
People-pleasing and perfectionism
Emotional eating or body image issues
Fears and phobias (e.g. needles, flying, public speaking)
Coping with medical procedures or chronic illness
Preparing for events like exams, interviews or performances
Menopause, hormonal changes and midlife transitions

It can also be deeply supportive during periods of change or uncertainty, when you're feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself.

What to expect from a session
Sessions begin with a conversation—exploring what you’d like support with, what’s been happening, and how you’re feeling. We then decide together if hypnotherapy is the right approach for that session.
I’ll guide you into a calm, relaxed state using gentle visualisation or breath-led grounding, and from there we may work with suggestions, metaphors, inner imagery, or even a structured journey tailored to your goals. You’ll always be aware of what’s happening and able to pause or redirect the session at any point.

At the end, we gently bring you back to full alertness and reflect on how you’re feeling. Many clients find hypnotherapy not only effective but deeply calming and restorative.

Is it right for me?
If you’re someone who feels anxious, overthinks, struggles with sleep, or finds it hard to switch off—hypnotherapy may be a helpful way in. It’s particularly useful if you’ve “tried everything” and are looking for something more experiential or body-mind focused.

It’s also a great fit for clients who want to feel more in control of their lives but don’t always have the words to explain what’s going on. You don’t need to have done therapy before—and you don’t need to be good at relaxing. Just a willingness to be open to the process is enough.

Let’s begin
You don’t have to know exactly what you need before reaching out. Many people start this journey simply knowing that something doesn’t feel right—and that they’re ready to try something different.

If you’re curious about hypnotherapy, I offer a free 20-minute consultation where we can talk through any questions you may have and see whether it feels like a good fit.

Sessions are available online or in-person from my therapy room on the Hampton Hill/Teddington border, easy access from Twickenham and Richmond (the R68 stops outside my door).
