Why Sleep Matters
Sleep is one of the most essential pillars of our health and wellbeing — just as important as the food we eat or the air we breathe. When we sleep well, everything works better: our emotions feel more balanced, our minds are clearer, and we’re better able to respond to life’s challenges with resilience.

But when sleep is disrupted — whether for days, weeks, or even years — it can affect every part of our life.

You might find yourself lying awake with racing thoughts, waking in the night with a sense of dread, or feeling tired no matter how long you've slept. You might notice your mood dipping, your patience shrinking, or your ability to concentrate slipping away. It can feel exhausting, lonely and frustrating — especially when others don’t understand just how deeply it’s impacting you.

Over time, poor sleep can affect your mental, emotional, and physical health. It's linked to:
Increased risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems and stroke
Heightened stress, anxiety, low mood, and even suicidal thoughts
Difficulty regulating appetite, weight, and energy levels
Weakened immune system, leaving you more prone to illness
Foggy thinking, forgetfulness and poor decision-making
Strained relationships, due to irritability or emotional sensitivity
An ongoing sense of feeling disconnected from yourself or life
And the longer sleep issues go on, the more likely it is that anxiety about sleep itself becomes part of the cycle — making it even harder to rest, and harder to break free.
The good news is, this can change
Sleep difficulties aren’t a personal failure or something you just have to live with. There are gentle, evidence-based ways to retrain your body and mind to feel safe, calm and capable of deep, restorative sleep again.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) has evolved over the last 40 years into the most widely respected and highly regarded treatment for insomnia across the developed world. N.I.C.E. (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) in the UK recommends CBTi as the first-line treatment for the management of insomnia.

I trained with Dr David Lee at Sleep Unlimited Ltd using his R.E.S.T programme. R.E.S.T. uses the well-established, effective treatment elements of CBTi as well as an assessment procedure, informing bespoke treatment which is tailored to each client’s specific sleep problems.

I use CBTi to assess your sleep issues, help you learn to track your circadian rhythm, and give you all the help you need to get a good night’s sleep.
